In-Checkout Validation

How does our in checkout validation work?

Our in-checkout validation ensures that entered addresses follow the required format by checking for missing components, invalid characters, and the use of packing stations or post boxes.

While this validation does not confirm whether an address actually exits, it effectively prevents small but important entry mistakes (often caused by auto-fill tool) that could otherwise result in delivery issues or even failed shipments.

If an invalid input is detected, customers will receive an error message and the checkout will be blocked until the issue is fixed.

How to set up our in checkout validation?

  1. Enable "Validate in checkout" checkbox.
Please note that the in-checkout validation must be enabled for the validation rules to take effect.

  2. Define via the validation rules which criteria should be checked and blocked by our in-checkout validation:

  • missing house number

  • address with special characters

  • custom regex

  • packing stations / P.O. boxes

  • name format

  • emails with typo

  • character limits for address line 1 + 2, name and company field

Disclaimer:
AddressHero can only block checkout attempts made via Shopify integrated payments after a format error has been detected. Express Checkouts (e.g. PayPal Express) or checkouts made via redirect-based or custom payment methods (e.g. iDEAL, Bank transfer) cannot be blocked.
