You may notice an informational banner in your Shopify admin that flags AddressHero as causing "checkout errors." This is expected behavior – here's exactly what it means and why it's not a problem.
What does the banner say?
Shopify displays a banner in your checkout analytics when a checkout is blocked or abandoned after an app intervenes. It looks something like this: "An app blocked X checkouts."
Why does it appear?
On average, 40–60% of customers abandon their checkout before purchasing – this is completely normal in e-commerce. When AddressHero detects an incorrect address and blocks the checkout until the customer corrects it, some of those customers abandon the process. Shopify counts these as "blocked checkouts" and surfaces the banner.
✅ This is not a problem. AddressHero is doing exactly what it's supposed to do: catching addresses that would cause failed deliveries, returns, and extra costs.
What it actually means
Every checkout has drop-offs. Some of those drop-offs involve customers who entered an incorrect address and chose not to correct it. Without AddressHero, those orders would have shipped to undeliverable addresses. With AddressHero, the problem is caught before fulfillment.
What should you do?
Nothing – you can safely ignore this banner. It is purely informational and does not indicate a malfunction or negative impact on your store's performance.
